Eichsfelder Zentralschlachthof is aiming for renovation

Heilbad Heiligenstadt, September 12, 2017. Eichsfelder Zentralschlachthof GmbH, based in Heilbad Heiligenstadt (Thuringian district of Eichsfeld), is aiming for a reorganization under the insolvency plan procedure. On September 11, 2017, the responsible district court of Mühlhausen appointed Kai Dellit, partner at the nationwide law firm hww hermann wienberg wilhelm, as the preliminary insolvency administrator. The lawyer, who is experienced in restructuring, continues business operations without restriction.

"The managing director's own application to open insolvency proceedings has no impact on day-to-day business, business operations continue without restrictions," explains Dellit. All orders are carried out with the known quality, reliability and on time. "So far, both customers and suppliers have indicated that they want to continue to support the company," reports Dellit. The management strives for the swift implementation of an insolvency plan procedure, i.e. a kind of comparison with the creditors, while soliciting an investor.

The Eichsfeld central slaughterhouse slaughters, cuts and markets around 90.000 pigs annually. As one of the most modern slaughterhouses in Thuringia, the company specializes in delivering hot meat. The animals are slaughtered at night by highly qualified employees. The meat is then immediately delivered to the surrounding processors or butchers, among other things for the production of Eichsfeld sausage specialties. The slaughtered meat is processed further immediately. The slaughterhouse adheres to the highest standards of animal welfare and also has approval for organic products.

Filing for bankruptcy had become necessary as the company became insolvent. On the one hand, the Eichsfeld central slaughterhouse is suffering from the increasing price pressure in the meat industry. On the other hand, more and more customers are opting for the cheaper alternative of cold processing, as they themselves are under increasing pressure due to the price war in the food retail sector.

The Eichsfelder Zentralschlachthof currently employs around 40 people who are already informed about the situation. The wages and salaries are secured for three months by the Federal Employment Agency through insolvency payments. The preliminary insolvency administrator has already initiated the pre-financing of the insolvency money through a bank so that the salaries can be paid out without any major delays.
