Growing interest in organic at InterMeat/InterMopro

BMVEL special "Organic Farming and Processing" for the second time contact point for processors and trade

The success reports about the development of the organic food market in recent years are increasingly motivating skeptics to deal more intensively with organic. This was also confirmed by the large number of interested parties who took advantage of the comprehensive range of information and the free expert advice at the BMVEL special "Organic Farming and Processing" trade fair stand at the InterMeat/InterMopro (September 26-29.09.04, 19 in Düsseldorf). An extensive organic product exhibition for meat and sausage products as well as dairy products - including an organic barbecue - demonstrated at stand A4 in hall XNUMX that organic products are no longer "one-off products" in the overall range, but that consumers can be delighted with variety in organic quality the United Cooks of Nature.

The presentation of the ideas developed at the Bio InVision Camp® showed how prospective butchers and dairy masters imagine the organic future.

"Compared to the trade fair presence at the InterMeat/InterMopro 2002, we could observe a clearly increased need for information on the subject of organic among the trade visitors," states technical adviser Michael Stienen. "Companies, from smaller specialist craft businesses to large food producers, use what is on offer at the exhibition stand, as do representatives of the food retail trade." For both groups, the question of procurement is a main aspect: where do you get the necessary raw materials from? Who can supply retailers with a full range or promise continuous quantities. On the other hand, the question of whether what says organic is actually organic has receded into the background, thanks to the rapid success of the organic seal: 22.924 products have already been marked with the distinctive green octagon. The quantity and quality of the discussions held by the specialist consultants at the exhibition stand suggests that the suspicious view of the organic pioneers of the 80s and 90s could turn into a "hidden love". In any case, the "packaged love" that Carsten Girlich, United Cook of Nature, served to trade fair visitors at the CMA cheese bar was the organic hit: tomato with mozzarella and pesto in strudel dough.

A look into the future

The young butchers and dairies showed that organic is not a question of generations, but a case for creativity and innovation. At the respective Bio InVision Camp® - carried out with prospective master butchers in cooperation with the Frankfurt butcher technical school JA Heyne and with the dairy masters of tomorrow with the State Dairy Training and Research Institute, Wangen - ideas were developed how the future can be successfully shaped with organic can. The presentation of the ideas and visions developed during the one-day workshop were presented in Düsseldorf at the BMVEL special "Organic Farming and Processing" trade fair stand.

The trade fair presence at the InterMeat/InterMopro, the United Cooks of Nature and the Bio InVision Camps® are part of the federal program for organic farming, initiated by the Federal Ministry for Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture. In addition to farmers, processors and traders, the federal program informs consumers in particular about organic farming. For more information, see www.oekolandbau.de.
