Nutrition report: "Organic, GMO-free, proper animal husbandry

Berlin, 09.01.2019. The nutritional report 2019 of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture commented the managing director of the Bund Ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft (BÖLW), Peter Röhrig:

"The nutrition report shows that citizens are already much further than politicians sometimes want to admit. The Organic seal is the most important food quality label for humans, Because the citizens attach great importance to environmentally friendly production or GMO-free, when it comes to their food. The Germans are also prepared to eat less meat, so that in the future all people worldwide will be full. This works with the consumption of less but higher quality organic meat automatically.

The wishes of the citizens mean a clear assignment to Federal Minister of Agriculture Julia Klöckner: The 20% organic farming target from the coalition agreement must be implemented ambitiously.

One focus of the report is on out-of-home catering. Here is the view worth to Denmark. With intelligent concepts, daycare centers, schools, canteens or retirement homes are already serving delicious, healthy food with an 90% organic share - and this without any significant cost increases. With freshly cooked, meat-reduced food our Nordic neighbor also better reaches the usual dietary recommendations.

With the results of the nutrition report, Federal Minister Julia Klöckner would have the best prerequisites for a comprehensive, modern nutrition policy that takes into account the demands of humans, animals and the environment. The organic sector is happy to assist with the experience and expertise of 40.000 organic companies. "
