When the pizza delivery ringing too late

Study pizza delivery / Incompetent and unfriendly staff costs to average 30 minutes - Joey's is test winner

Whether spontaneous party, soccer game or evening because the desire is missing for cooking. Delivery services promise easy ordering, fast operation and immediate Pizza enjoyment. But what about in times of analog cheese and ham imitations of the quality of products? Who can convince priced? And who provides fast and as fresh from the oven?

The German Institute for Service Quality has now examined six supraregional pizza delivery services that are represented in at least two of the three largest German cities Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. As part of a comprehensive service analysis, the delivery quality, friendliness and competence on the phone as well as the websites of the providers were analyzed. In addition, the product range and the prices of the pizza suppliers were examined carefully.

Best Pizza Service 2009 was Joey's ahead of Hello Pizza and Smiley's. Joey's was also the best pizza service in Munich. In Berlin, on the other hand, Pizza Max was convincing. Hallo Pizza was voted the best pizza service in Hamburg.

If you need something to eat right away, you should make yourself a sandwich

If you need something to eat right away, you should make yourself a sandwich: on average, you had to wait 30 minutes for the pizza to be delivered. However, every twentieth order did not arrive at all or only after more than 60 minutes. Not all of the delivered pizzas were of convincing quality. Every fourth tester was not satisfied with the look of the pizza and 29 percent criticized the taste. All pizzas were at least warm. The testers criticized the friendliness of every fifth supplier.

The price differences were moderate and were between 4,95 and 5,90 euros for a pizza with salami and cheese, for example. The most expensive pizza in the test was always the vegetarian one and only one supplier delivered organic products.

Significant shortcomings were also noticed when ordering by telephone, with only every second interviewee of the testers being friendly overall. And when asked about analogue cheese, 57 percent of the pizza specialists had no answer. "This cluelessness is surprising, as the topic is currently the subject of much public discussion. This incompetence coupled with unfriendliness is unacceptable," says Markus Hamer, Managing Director of the institute.
