Marketagent.com reports results of a study on eating habits in Germany before

Marketagent.com, one of the leading online market research institutes in the German-speaking region, surveyed 1.000 members of its ISO-certified online access panel in Germany about their eating habits. The Italian classics, pizza and pasta, are answered when asked about the  Favorite dishes mentioned most often. If only a snack is eaten, most respondents like it Turkish: the doner kebab is chosen most often here. On average, more than half of those surveyed eat a warm meal once a day – preferably with a “spicy” flavor.

Favorite main dishes, favorite snacks

When it comes to their favorite main dishes, 46 out of 100 of those surveyed by Marketagent.com name pasta dishes as their favorites (46,1%), pizza is in the "top 37,3" with 5%, followed by turkey and chicken - or poultry dishes (35,5%) and grilled dishes (e.g. chops or spare ips) (29,8%).

With regard to the gender and age of the respondents, there are clear differences when it comes to these questions of taste: among women it is even more than half (54,3%) who count pasta among their favorite dishes, among men the pizza is chosen by most respondents ( 41,8%). Among the 14 to 29 year olds, pizza is favored by almost 56 out of 100 respondents (55,71%), while pasta dishes are mentioned more frequently among the over 30 year olds. Favorite foods in the group of 60 to 65 year olds are fish dishes (45,8%) and poultry (37,3%).

Only 7,7% of those surveyed warmed to the trend dish sushi. At least 20% of 40- to 13,3-year-olds choose the Japanese fish specialty as their five favorite food for only 2,5% of those over 50.

If it has to be quicker with food intake, more than half of the men surveyed by Marketagent.com like to reach for the doner kebab (50,6%), whereas the women - somewhat more health-conscious - prefer sandwiches such as tramezzini or ciabatta (42,4% ). The good old bratwurst is the favorite snack for more than four out of ten respondents in the group of over 60 year olds, while among the 14 to 19 year olds only 15,3% are enthusiastic about the typical German sausage against hunger.

Preferred flavors

Eight different possible flavors for hot meals were presented to the survey participants for rating on a scale from 1 (“I like it very much”) to 5 (“I don't like it at all”). Half of all respondents like spicy meals and this flavor becomes more popular with age. Among 60 to 65 year olds, more than seven out of ten people (71,1%) like spicy foods. Exactly one third of the men gave the flavor "spicy" the best mark (33,3%), the youngest (under 19) and the oldest (over 60 years) respondents can only agree with this judgment with 22,4% and 26,5, connect XNUMX%.

All in all, "sweet" as a flavor is very well received by almost a fifth of those surveyed (18,2%), with a clear gender and age gap being recognizable here: almost a third (30,6%) of those under 19 -year-olds, but not even one in ten of the 60- to 65-year-old respondents (9,6%) describes themselves as "cute" when asked this question.

For men it is only 12,4% compared to 23,7% for women.

There is unanimity when it comes to savory dishes: only a good 8 out of 100 rate this flavor as very good (8,3%).

number of warm meals and meat consumption

How often do people in Germany enjoy enjoying their favorite foods and flavors? Well over half of all respondents (56,3%) state that they eat 6-7 warm meals in an average week, i.e. on average just under one per day. Almost a quarter (24,6%) eat only 5 or fewer hot meals per week, while almost six out of 100 respondents (5,9%) eat more than 10 hot meals per week, which means that at least eaten warm twice three days a week.

Finally, the market researchers from Marketagent.com were interested in how the respondents actually consumed meat. Three out of 100 people (3,1%) state that they eat a fully vegetarian diet. For women it is more than five out of 100 (5,3%), for men it is only 0,8%. 7,2% of all respondents stated that they eat meat every day, but the vast majority consume moderate amounts of meat: 42 out of 100 (41,9%) eat “animal food” three to four times a week.
