Allocation of research funds - Tönnie's research calls for applications

The "non-profit society for the promotion of research on the future of animal welfare in livestock husbandry", "Tönnies research" for short, founded in 2010, supports research proposals with the aim of improving the conditions for keeping farm animals, transport conditions and the slaughtering process. The tf takes up legitimate concerns and problems regarding animal welfare in livestock husbandry and supports scientific work. For the next funding period from autumn 2018, scientists, practitioners and institutes are now invited to apply with their research projects.

The aim of the tf is also to have the conditions of slaughtered animal transports analyzed and to look for ways in which the slaughtering process can be designed in a more animal-welfare-friendly manner, regardless of existing legal requirements. In the context of research funding, however, the political and social debate on the subject of "animal welfare in livestock husbandry" is also taken into account, since research on the one hand and social acceptance with regard to livestock husbandry on the other hand represent two sides of the same coin Analyzing animal welfare in practice and trying to improve husbandry with specific approaches, politics and society define the legal and ethical framework.
