New BASELINE direct film printer series from MULTIVAC

In the second half of 2020, MULTIVAC launched a new series of BASELINE direct web printers for the lower and medium output range of thermoforming packaging machines. The cost-efficient entry-level models of the BASELINE DP 110/130 series are characterized by a space-saving design, optimum hygiene properties and a high level of flexibility in terms of printing technologies. Direct web printers are used to efficiently and reliably print packaging films within the packaging machine. In addition to the tried-and-tested DP 2x0 series, MULTIVAC has now developed two cost-effective entry-level models, the DP 110 and the DP 130, which, however, do not have to do without optimal hygiene properties and maximum safety standards. Both models can be used on all R 0xx to R 5xx series thermoforming packaging machines. The compact, space-saving design leaves the loading area completely free. Since no housing is required due to the stepper motor drives used, quick and easy access to the printer is possible.

printing technologies
Three different printing technologies are available for a reliable printing process: thermal transfer printing, inkjet printing and thermal inkjet printing. Users of MULTIVAC TTO printers (thermal transfer printers) benefit in particular from cost savings in ribbon consumption. Because the printer can be rotated by 90 degrees, so that printing can be carried out both in the direction of pack travel and at right angles to it. In this way, the most favorable printing direction for ribbon consumption can always be selected.

Holistic operating concept
All MULTIVAC direct web printers are specially adapted to the respective packaging machine and form a perfect unit in terms of design and control technology. The traversing axes as well as the MULTIVAC printers can be operated directly via the operating terminal of the packaging machine. Machine parameters are saved via recipe management and automatically transferred when changing batches. This ensures quick conversion to other products or pack sizes and high line availability. When using MULTIVAC printers, operators also benefit from the automatic print layout management via the MULTIVAC operator terminal HMI. Because when you call up the respective recipe for a product, the correct print layout is automatically loaded. Operating errors can thus be avoided from the outset.

Perfectly matched consumables
In order to achieve optimal printing results, MULTIVAC offers a comprehensive portfolio of consumables that is constantly being expanded. All materials meet the highest quality standards and are perfectly matched to the respective systems. A new addition to the range is the MULTIVAC Standard Plus XL thermal transfer film, which has a run length of up to 1.200 meters thanks to the reduced thickness of the carrier material. This reduces the need for roll changes and thus downtimes, while increasing the efficiency of the packaging line. However, if higher cycle performance and printing accuracy are required, MULTIVAC offers the DP 2x0 direct web printer for all MULTIVAC thermoforming packaging machine model series. Its modular concept ensures that a wide range of technical and economic requirements are ideally met.

About MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection
MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection is one of the leading manufacturers of labeling systems and direct film printers. The company, which was formerly called MR Labeling Technology and was founded in Enger, Westphalia, in 1993, has been part of the MULTIVAC Group since 1972. The company's wide range of products extends from standard labeling and printing solutions to labeling systems that are individually developed. The spectrum is supplemented by inspection systems for weight control, foreign body detection as well as for optical labeling and packaging control. All of these devices can be integrated into holistic packaging solutions and are of great importance in fulfilling the regulations and legal requirements for the quality management of packaging lines.
