Great popularity at Anuga 2021

Strong participation of more than 4.000 exhibitors from 94 countries - the industry's clear commitment to the world's leading trade fair for food and beverages. With Anuga, the largest trade fair in terms of the number of exhibitors and space occupancy will start in the regular mode on October 9th on the Koelnmesse grounds. The result is impressive, because with more than 4.000 exhibiting companies, Anuga 2021 is excellently positioned after the pandemic.
“This will make us the largest trade fair in Europe - if not worldwide - after the trade fair industry has restarted. All 11 halls on the site will be occupied. The newly built Hall 1, which meets all modern requirements for a trade fair, will also have its premiere at Anuga. This is really a strong signal on which we as Koelnmesse and the trade fair industry as a whole can build! This great popularity also confirms how much the industry is looking forward to this year's Anuga as the most important trade fair for food and beverages worldwide after a long period of abstinence, ”explains Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH, at the Anuga business conference.

Overall, the net space occupancy is currently 2/3 compared to 2019. Domestic exhibitors book 12 percent of the stand space and foreign exhibitors 88 percent. The internationality of Anuga is, as usual, high with current exhibitors from 94 countries and will continue to set standards in terms of product diversity and innovations. The ten largest country participations come from Belgium, Germany, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the USA.

On the visitor side, Anuga will again bring together numerous national and international top decision-makers from trade, industry and the out-of-home market from all over the world. The number of visitors will certainly differ from the previous event in 2019. The decision to come to the fair is made much more spontaneously and at short notice than usual. There have already been numerous registrations from well-known grocers and distributors from over 50 different countries. ALDI Purchasing SE & Co. oHG, Eismann Tiefkühl-Heimservice GmbH, Gate Group (formerly LSG Group), Metro AG, REWE Group Buying GmbH as well as Supermarketfoods Asia and World Finer Foods have planned a visit to Anuga.

The importance of Anuga as the world's leading trade fair for food and beverages is also confirmed by the participation of Julia Klöckner, Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, and Armin Laschet, Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia at the opening of the trade fair.

The world's leading trade fair for food and beverages is breaking new ground for the first time with the hybrid concept of the trade fair, in which the usual on-site trade fair in Cologne is supplemented by the digital Anuga @home. In addition to the showrooms of the exhibiting companies, the digital counterpart to the trade fair stand, there are, for example, target group-specific specialist stages such as the Trend Zone with valuable information and analyzes on developments in the industry, as well as interesting start-up pitches or panel discussions. Comprehensive networking opportunities in various specialist areas and areas of interest are available to trade fair participants via audio, video or chat communication.

“The Anuga @home brings industry participants together from all over the world, regardless of time and place, and creates a digital trade fair experience on the screen at home or in the office. In addition, we can offer our customers a large number of new investment opportunities and set new standards in terms of international reach, lead generation and networking in the next few years, ”Böse continues.

The digital Anuga @home starts with a delay and is available from October 11-13.10. available live. Even after the end of the trade fair, a large number of content will be available here on demand.

In terms of content, Anuga will tie in with the 2019 anniversary edition and, as a global driver of the industry, will provide an outlook on new developments and innovations in the industry. The focus of this year's edition is the change in nutrition, which has picked up speed significantly as a result of the pandemic and once again made the volatility of the global food and ecosystem and the need for a global food turnaround visible. Trade fairs like Anuga are always a reflection of the market, which not only actively accompany the transformation process, but also support the industry in continuing economic success and securing it in the long term. Under the main theme “Transform”, Anuga not only presents pioneering future topics in the context of new event and congress formats, but also offers the international product variety that the world's leading trade fair has stood for for many years with the usual 10 trade fairs under one roof.

The new special shows “Anuga Clean Label”, “Anuga Free From, Health & Functional Foods” and the “Anuga Meet More Meatless” format within Anuga Meat address new consumer needs and offer buyers and the media an overview of product innovations in these trend categories.

In the congress area, the New Food Conference is celebrating its Anuga premiere this year. As the first food fair, Anuga will focus on cell-based proteins, so-called “laboratory meat” and alternative dairy products. In addition, the sustainability conference of the Center for Sustainable Corporate Management (ZNU) sheds light on the complexity of the most diverse sustainability challenges such as climate, packaging, food losses and human rights along the supply chain. The innovation summit Newtrition X. takes up topics of change and provides insights into new findings from personalized nutrition. The focus of this year's Anuga Executive Summit on the eve of Anuga is also on the change in diet.

The transformation is most visible in the food trends and product innovations at Anuga 2021. This shows that the food and beverage industry is meeting the challenges of change with new solutions and innovative products. Trends such as Alternative Meat Proteins, Clean Label, Plant-based Proteins or Foods and Sustainably Produced or Packaged will therefore also be reflected in the Anuga taste Innovation Show, the Anuga trend barometer. This year, for the first time, trade fair participants can look forward to double the innovative strength. The Anuga taste Innovation Show starts with a digital stage at the Anuga @home as well as with the physical special show in Hall 4.1. The top innovations 2021, selected by a jury of journalists and market researchers, will be presented - a benchmark for top buyers as to which products will hit the shelves next.

However, Anuga again offers some highlights not only for buyers, but also for professionals from the catering industry. The Anuga trade fair day can, for example, start with breakfast in the Hack enjoyment and beer garden or in the DEHOGA Lounge in Hall 7. In addition, the stage of the Anuga Culinary Concept in Hall 7 invites to cooking shows, lectures and product presentations. As in previous years, the finals of the two established professional competitions "Chef of the Year" and "Pastry Chef of the Year" take place here. The 30th DEHOGA System Gastronomy Forum and the Gastro Power Breakfast, which is also taking place in hybrid form this year, also provide valuable information for professionals from the out-of-home market. Topics such as contract catering in Europe or expectations of gastronomy after COVID-19 are in the foreground here.

Anuga is still taking place under special auspices, and Koelnmesse has prepared itself intensively for the implementation with a comprehensive package of measures, which under the term # B-SAFE4business ensures that the trade fair runs in conformity with the corona. The current corona protection regulations of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia ensure further planning security.

The basic requirement for holding a safe trade fair is the implementation of the 3G principle, which we call CH3CK (“check three”) with a view to our foreign trade fair guests. All trade fair guests and service providers, all journalists go through an identical process and can enter the exhibition grounds vaccinated, tested or recovered. In order to make the processes as smooth as possible, there will also be test facilities on the exhibition grounds. In this way, Anuga creates the best possible security in the exhibition halls for everyone.
