The 25th edition of the successful Stuttgart trade fair opened on Saturday with a symbolic sausage cut. On the three days from September 18 to 20, the popular industry platform will again offer all participants the opportunity to obtain extensive information about new products and services, to take advantage of further training opportunities and to exchange ideas with colleagues.
"Big potential"
Among the guests at the opening was the Minister for Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection, Peter Hauk MdL, who emphasized the importance of SÜFFA for the meat industry: "The demand for regional food is very important in Baden-Württemberg," he said. “Short transport routes, transparent production and processing as well as increased animal welfare are becoming more and more of the criteria that make a purchase decision. For the butcher and meat trade, I see great potential here to stand out from the crowd and to increase the added value and appreciation of regional quality products. "
"Permanent trade fair cannot be replaced in the long term"
With around 170 exhibitors, they are “still a little below the pre-Corona figures,” admitted Messe’s managing director Stefan Lohnert. Nevertheless, they are pleased with the “strong response” to an event concept that has been adapted to the conditions and that has ultimately convinced many well-known providers. “The feedback that we have also received from other industries makes us optimistic that SÜFFA can mark the start of a successful autumn trade fair. Digital alternatives cannot replace direct exchange in the context of a presence fair in the long term, this is very clear. The need is there. "
"Investment backlog will be resolved"
This was also confirmed by Herbert Dohrmann, President of the German Butchers' Association: “The positive response from customers during the pandemic on the one hand and the restrictions on contacts to business partners on the other have led to an investment backlog in many butchers that is now being resolved. The SÜFFA has a very important function. It is good that this meeting place is possible again! "
"Fuel restart"
Joachim Lederer, state guild master for the butcher's trade in Baden-Württemberg, was happy to join him. Overall, the industry mastered the exceptional Corona situation well, and in many places there is “a clear willingness to invest,” he said. He is therefore looking forward to “a good new start” and a “very good, professionally oriented trade fair with huge opportunities for all participants”.
"Trade fair business is picking up speed"
This does not only apply to SÜFFA: As the first major industry get-together after the Corona break, the trade fair has a lighthouse function for other events and thus also for craft and business in the region as a whole. "I am very pleased that trade fair operations in Stuttgart are now picking up speed again," said Economics Minister and Chairman of the Trade Fair Supervisory Board, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut. “The calendar of events for the next few months is well filled. This is an important step for our economy on the way to its old strength and a positive signal for everyone involved - the state fair, our companies and all people who can now use the diverse range of offers again to present themselves and obtain information. "
