bought less organic bread
More expensive raw materials led to price increases
After strong growth in the two previous years, sales volumes for organic bread in Germany 2008 came up not to the previous year: The purchase volumes of private households fell by three percent.
According to the ZMP analysis based on the household panel of the market research institute GfK, sales rose by five percent to EUR 243 million. The increased raw material prices have consequently left their mark on the market. The sales share of organic bread in the bread market as a whole remained stable at 7,1 percent.
