Stricter rules for slaughterhouses

Stricter rules and new laws have been in force in the meat industry since January 1, 2021 - from now on, employees may no longer be employed through so-called contract partners, and temporary work is also to be abolished and prohibited from April 01.04.2021, 2020. All employees must be hired internally. The rules apply to slaughtering and butchering in large companies. Working hours must also be recorded electronically in the future - sixteen-hour days and living in shared accommodation would no longer be accepted, Hubertus Heil (Federal Minister of Labor) had promised in mid-30.000. Stricter control measures and high fines of up to XNUMX euros will be enforced in the event of non-compliance. Whether this law will boost the meat industry in Germany or make it less competitive on the global market remains to be seen. Tönnies, Europe's largest slaughterhouse, had already announced that it might move capacities abroad in order to remain competitive.
