As part of an official celebration, the management of the MULTIVAC Group today broke ground for a new production plant for parts production and spare parts logistics in Wolfertschwenden. The new factory with a usable area of 35.000 square meters will be built around 1000 meters from the group's headquarters and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. The investment volume is 60 million euros. The invited guests at the celebration included Beate Ullrich, first mayor of the municipality of Wolfertschwenden, Alex Eder, district administrator of the Unterallgäu district, as well as Pastor Ralf Matthes (St. Martin, Memmingen) and Father Delphin Chirund (Parish Community of Bad Grönenbach).

“Our company has always been firmly rooted in the region. The new building in the immediate vicinity of our headquarters is a groundbreaking decision for MULTIVAC and a renewed, clear commitment from our shareholders to the Allgäu location. Last but not least, the investment is also a basis for further growth – and offers employees attractive and future-proof jobs,” said Christian Traumann, Managing Director (CEO) of the MULTIVAC Group. “Thanks to the latest production technologies and a high level of automation, the new factory will significantly expand our capabilities in the areas of parts production and spare parts logistics. Our customers across Europe as well as our global logistics centers will benefit from higher delivery readiness and delivery speed.”

Dr. Christian Lau, Managing Director (COO) of the MULTIVAC Group, added: “We will relocate the production of components for our processing and packaging machines, which is currently taking place in the main factory, to the new building complex. Thanks to the space gained, we will have more space at the company headquarters for our slicer and line business, in which we are recording steady growth. At the same time, we are using the new factory, which is scheduled to gradually go into operation from 2026, to further optimize the supply of spare parts. We will store thousands of spare parts there for machines from the entire group of companies, i.e. MULTIVAC, TVI and FRITSCH. And spare parts ordered via an online shop can be delivered on the same day.”

The new building complex with a floor area of 27.500 square meters includes a production area of 18.000 square meters, a logistics area of 9.500 square meters and around 3.750 square meters for offices, canteen and social rooms on the first floor. In the interests of a sustainable infrastructure, some measures are also planned at the new production site that will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions: In the new plant, groundwater will be used to cool buildings using wells, and in addition to bio-district heating, a separate photovoltaic system will be used to supply energy.

In addition to the new factory in Wolfertschwenden, the MULTIVAC Group has 14 other production sites in Germany, Austria, Spain, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Japan, India and the USA.
