African swine fever in Poland - more than 23.000 pigs infected

To top it all off, that too. In addition to the corona crisis, African swine fever (ASF) has now also broken out in a Polish pig farm. More than 23.000 animals are infected and must be culled immediately, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in Poland ordered.

Since the case occurred in an area that has already been established as a restricted area under EU law because of the occurrence of ASF in wild boar, strict rules apply here, reports the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. The transport of pigs and the trade in pork and pork products are prohibited. The Ministry does not assume that the disease will be spread from the affected company to Germany.
