India is the partner country of Anuga 2017

India is the partner country of Anuga 2017. From 7th to 11th October 2017, Indian suppliers will not only show the great variety of Indian food and beverages at Anuga, but will also impressively demonstrate their competence and performance for international trade and gastronomy. With its multi-layered food industry and its world-famous and globally widespread cuisine, India is an ideal candidate for the role of the partner country in the context of Anuga. India's partner country activities at the leading international trade fair for food and beverages are being overseen by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFTI) - Government of India. The ministry will attend the opening of Anuga on October 7, 2017 with a delegation.

The Ministry and Koelnmesse have had a close relationship for some time. Her Hon'ble Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister of MOFTI, came to Anuga in 2015 to get an idea of the fair and the Indian participation.

In addition, Koelnmesse has been successfully organizing trade fairs with a focus on nutrition in India for several years. The Annapoorna World of Food India and ANUTEC India take place in Mumbai and Delhi.
“We are very much looking forward to working with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries at Anuga. The fair offers the Indian food and beverage sector an excellent projection and development area, ”notes Katharina C. Hamma, Managing Director of Koelnmesse GmbH.

The number of exhibitors from India at Anuga has risen continuously over the past ten years. While 2005 exhibitors from India were exhibiting at Anuga in 45, there were 135 Indian exhibitors in 2015. On the one hand, numerous companies took part under the leadership of the Indian Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO). On the other hand, many individual exhibitors were represented at Anuga 2015.
Also in 2017, numerous companies will participate under the flag of the ITPO, which will diversify the portfolio of companies and products.
Another group organizer is the Agricultural & Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA). The Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council (IOPEPC) is participating in Anuga for the first time.

India by no means only stands for the well-known specialties of its highly praised culinary tradition, which is considered the epitome of versatility and pleasure. The high-quality raw materials, partially processed and finished products of the Indian subcontinent are also of great importance in the global food industry.

In addition to tea and spices, the export goods of the Indian food industry include rice, grain and pulses, all products that - in addition to ready-made meals - will also be shown at Anuga.
The great diversity of Indian cuisine and its products is due to the variety of regions and provinces. Ingredients and preparation methods can vary widely. However, the basic elements include vegetables and fruits as well as cereals and rice, spices and herbs, dairy products and honey. In addition to a wide range of vegetarian dishes, there are numerous meat or fish-based dishes. Just as Indian cuisine has taken on and developed influences from other peoples and traditions over the course of its 8.000-year history, so conversely the Indian way of life has inspired dishes and kitchens around the world up to the modern "Fusion Cuisines".

Around 34 suppliers from 7.200 countries and 100 trade visitors from all over the world are expected at the 160.000th Anuga. Anuga is the world's largest and most important business platform for the international food industry.
