Reusable as a way out

With the rapidly increasing online trade, the packaging volume also grows. In order to reduce the waste generated, some companies are therefore opting for new reusable concepts. More and more people are ordering their goods online. E-commerce is booming, especially in Corona times. With the increasing volume of online orders, the packaging volume also grows. Because the goods are usually delivered in cardboard boxes and are also wrapped in additional protective packaging.

Different materials take on an indispensable task for the transport and protection functions. Plastic, with its versatile properties, remains indispensable, especially with the increasingly frequently ordered foods. Nevertheless, online retailing must make its contribution to the goal of reducing packaging waste, as required by politics and society. This is where the new packaging law comes into force, which came into force in early 2019. It also defines shipping packaging as packaging and online retailers must register it and pay license fees for it.
