Kaufland offers pork from an outside environment

Neckarsulm, September 5, 2019 – Kaufland was one of the first food retailers to make the animal husbandry form on the product transparent in May 2018. Today, the company is going a logical step further and is introducing level 3 “outdoor climate” pork in all branches across Germany. Minced pork, pork schnitzel, pork loin and pork belly from K-Favourites are now regularly available nationwide in self-service. In addition, the animals are fed without genetic engineering.
"Many of our customers like to enjoy a nice piece of meat, but want to be sure that it comes from animal welfare-friendly husbandry," says Stefan Rauschen, Managing Director Freshness Purchasing. "With our K-Favourites pork, we can give them that good feeling."

Housing type 3 "outdoor climate"
Pigs kept in level 3 “outdoor climate” housing have 40 percent more space than required by law. They have access to outdoor climate and they have access to straw and another organic activity material. For more information on the criteria for the individual types of husbandry, go to kaufland.de/haltungsform.

At the Kaufland meat service counters, pork from the “Wertschatze” brand is only offered from level 3 husbandry.
