State-of-the-art training workshop opened at Tönnies

The time has finally come: The Tönnies Group's new, state-of-the-art training workshop has been completed. In the future, technical trainees will be able to deepen their mechanical and electronic knowledge even better on an area of around 250 square meters. They are supported in this by their trainers. Clemens Tönnies, partner of the Tönnies group of companies, and his wife Margit also came to the official opening of the new premises in Rheda.

For the company's own training workshop, several rooms on the company premises have been completely refurbished, renovated and modernized in the past few months. Tönnies is no longer dependent on an external training workshop. “The trainees are now much closer to the action. You not only learn the theory from a distance, but are now right in the middle of it, ”says Jan Fuhrmann, head of training for technical professions. He and his colleagues pushed ahead with the planning and implementation of the new training workshop. In the future, the Tönnies trainees will be able to work practically here and consolidate their knowledge of welding, turning and milling, among other things. There is an additional classroom with computers and a smart board for theory. The trainer's master office is also located in the training workshop. As a result, the trainees and trainers work closely together and can give feedback quickly.

“We're not just training new specialists here, but also personalities,” said Clemens Tönnies at the opening. The promotion of young talent and training is particularly important to the family company. That is why Tönnies is setting new incentives for the trainees with the ultra-modern training workshop. The family company is currently training 25 apprentices from four years of apprenticeship and three different professional fields in the technical field.

The prospective specialists to become electronics technicians, mechatronics technicians and industrial mechanics take care of the maintenance, servicing or troubleshooting of machines, conveyor belts and cooling during operation. But creative solutions are always in demand. The Tönnies trainees are directly involved in the practical work. “Nobody has to stand by and watch for weeks here, but can lend a hand right away. And honestly: they often have great ideas that we old hands would never have thought of, ”says Jan Fuhrmann.
