Hubertus Paetow new DLG President

The new president of the DLG (German Agricultural Society) is Hubertus Paetow from Finkenthal-Schlutow (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania). The DLG general committee elected him on February 20th at the winter conference in Münster / Westphalia. He is the successor to Carl-Albrecht Bartmer, who was no longer available for re-election as President after a twelve-year term in office.

51-year-old Hubertus Paetow runs a 1.250 hectare farm. After his training as a farmer, the native of Schleswig-Holstein studied agricultural sciences in Göttingen and Kiel. Until 2005, the father of five was the managing director of an arable farm near Kiel. Since then he has been running his own business with a focus on agriculture and seed production.

Paetow belongs to the generation of forward-pushing entrepreneurial farmers who, with foresight and a pronounced open-mindedness towards professional, technological and organizational progress, set the tone for the further development of the agricultural and food industries. His proven specialist knowledge and a keen sense of what is feasible benefit him. For many years he has been involved in a responsible position in the DLG specialist work and is significantly involved in the strategic positioning and development of the DLG. For example on the board of directors and the overall committee as well as vice-president and chairman of the test center for technology and operating resources. In addition, he is a member of the committee for operations management and deputy chairman of the committee for digitization, industrial engineering and process technology.
