Association of the meat industry with a new chairman

Berlin, May 23.05.2019rd, 2007 – The general meeting of the meat industry association in Berlin today elected Heiner Manten, co-owner and managing director of Heinrich Manten Qualitätsfleisch vom Niederrhein GmbH & Co. KG, as the new chairman. He succeeds Paul Brand, owner of the company Brand Qualitätsfleisch GmbH & Co. KG, who has headed the association since XNUMX and did not run again.

The Executive Board thanked Paul Brand for his extraordinary 32-year voluntary commitment as a member of the Executive Board, of which the last twelve years as Chairman. He has always represented the interests of his industry in a very prudent, competent and balanced manner, both externally and internally. Paul Brand was not only a convincing advocate for the meat industry on a national level. In addition, through his commitment in Brussels as chairman of the Civil Dialogue Group for Pig Meat, he perceived the concerns of the European meat industry with great appreciation from his EU colleagues. His persuasive demeanor and his numerous discussions with Chinese officials have made a significant contribution to German pork being allowed to be delivered to China and these relationships being expanded.

Heiner Manten has been a member of the VDF board since 2004. In addition to his many years of experience in association work, he also brings practical knowledge from almost all areas of the meat industry from his medium-sized family business with a pig and a cattle slaughterhouse.

Marcus Kraemer, managing director of Gottfried Kurth Fleischimporte GmbH, who had represented the importers on the board since 2010, was also dismissed from the board. Matthias Rudolph, Managing Director of Peter Mattfeld & Sohn GmbH, will take on this task in the future. Andreas Rode, Managing Director of DANISH CROWN Fleisch GmbH, was also newly elected to the Board. The board members Wolfgang Härtl, Unifleisch GmbH & Co. KG and Bernd Stange, VION GmbH, were confirmed with re-election.

Slaughtering, cutting and meat trading companies are represented in the Association of the Meat Industry, which together produce more than 90% of German beef and pork and which do almost all of Germany's foreign trade in meat.
