Leonie Hummert wins golden sugar loaf

As a Tönnies home grown Leonie Hummert wins one of the most important young talent awards in Germany: The Golden Sugar Loaf. The award is one of the most important prizes for young professionals in the food industry and is presented by the foundation of the same name. The 10.000-year-old would like to invest the prize money of 23 euros in her professional training. At a glamorous award ceremony she was accompanied by partner Clemens Tönnies, among others. "We are pleased to be able to support such a great young talent in our company," said Tönnies at the award ceremony and congratulates on behalf of the entire group of companies.

After many weeks of waiting, Leonie Hummert received the happy call: She is one of the winners of the Golden Sugar Loaf 2021. “I was sitting alone at my desk and was initially speechless,” says Leonie Hummert. "After the first shock, I immediately called my colleague in quality management at Tönnies because she was cheering me the whole time." Leonie Hummert is now the deputy quality management officer at three locations of Tevex Logisticts, a subsidiary of Tönnies. Her career began as an intern in the group of companies.

Leonie Hummert quickly demonstrated her talent for issues in quality management in food production and assumed responsibility. As a trainee in quality management, she oversees various projects and is the project manager for the implementation, further development and optimization of software for quality controls. As a result, she also travels to other locations of the corporate group in order to apply the experience she gained in Rheda to other locations.

At home in Schöppingen in the Borken district, Leonie Hummert is out and about in nature whenever possible with her horse or her two dogs. As a hunter, she also takes on great responsibility towards nature and animals in her private life. “You don't expect that from a young woman in particular. But I love it, ”says the slayer.

The Golden Sugar Loaf Foundation award is presented annually by the Lebensmittel Zeitung and promotes further training for young, qualified people. Young professionals who pursue their professional careers in the food industry and want to receive further training in this area can apply for the award. The financial support is to be used in the sense of the foundation for the further education and training of talented young professionals, projects at home and abroad as well as studies in the food industry. The Board of Trustees and the Board of Trustees of the Golden Sugar Loaf decide on the winners and the amount of the prize money.
