Yesterday, the general meeting of the meat industry association unanimously confirmed Heiner Manten, co-owner and managing director of Heinrich Manten Qualitätsfleisch vom Niederrhein GmbH & Co. KG, as chairman of the association. This marks Manten's second term at the helm of the association.

"I am pleased to be able to continue working with a board of directors that has specialist knowledge for all areas of our industry and in which every single colleague thinks for the entire industry. I've learned to appreciate that over the past three years," Manten comments on the choice. "The industry has to master unprecedented challenges and this requires a strong joint effort in the association," Manten continued.

Heiner Manten has been a member of the VDF board since 2004. In addition to his many years of experience in association work, he also brings practical knowledge from almost all areas of the meat industry from his medium-sized family business with a pig and a cattle slaughterhouse.

Farewell was due to Bernd Stange from Vion, who had been an active member of the board for twelve years and is now retiring. David de Camp, COO Beef at Vion, was newly elected to the board. In addition, the General Assembly gave their unequivocal vote for a further term of office for Messrs. Wolfgang Härtl (Unifleisch, Erlangen), Andreas Rode (Danish Crown, Essen) and Matthias Rudolph (Peter Mattfeld & Sohn GmbH, Hamburg).

Slaughtering, cutting and meat trading companies are represented in the Association of the Meat Industry, which together produce more than 90% of German beef and pork and which do almost all of Germany's foreign trade in meat.
