Wolfgang Schleicher appointed Managing Director of the German Poultry Industry
The Central Association of the German Poultry Industry (ZDG) is reorganizing itself: On October 1, 2022, Wolfgang Schleicher took over responsibility for the joint association office in Berlin as Managing Director.
Most recently, Wolfgang Schleicher was Head of Public Relations at the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry. After studying agricultural sciences at the Technical University of Munich-Weihenstephan, in 2008 he entered the Bavarian administrative service. Further stations were Brussels, Berlin and Munich. Schleicher has built up a large national and international network here.
Since October 1, 2022, Wolfgang Schleicher has been responsible for the business of the five affiliated federal associations of chicken, turkey and goose producers as well as the egg industry and the slaughterhouses and processing companies in accordance with the articles of association. At the same time, he takes over the management of the affiliated companies.
The 45-year-old Schleicher was born in Bavaria and lives in the Schwandorf district. With his administrative experience and extensive experience at various political levels, he feels well prepared for the upcoming tasks: "The German poultry industry has to overcome massive challenges across its entire value chain. I will do everything I can to work out sustainable and practical future solutions for the industry together with our members and our national and European partners.”
The appointment of Wolfgang Schleicher is the right and sustainable course for the association, emphasizes ZDG President Friedrich-Otto Ripke: "In an intensive selection process, the board unanimously voted in favor of Wolfgang Schleicher. With him we are gaining an experienced and hands-on manager. We are convinced that he will give our association the right impetus for further development.”

The Central Association of the German poultry industry e. V. represents as a trade roof and top organization, the interests of the German poultry industry at national and EU level towards political, official and professional organizations, the public and abroad. The approximately 8.000 members are organized in federal and state associations.
