During a ceremony in the Neubrandenburg concert church in November, Günther Weber was made an honorary citizen of the city of Neubrandenburg. In the presence of around 800 guests, Mayor Silvio Witt paid tribute to Weber's extraordinary social commitment. "I see this honor as a big thank you for my commitment to the people of this city and of course as confirmation that we didn't do everything wrong," explained Günther Weber, touched.

Weber Maschinenbau has been based in Neubrandenburg since 1999, today the second largest location within the group of companies and one of the largest employers in Neubrandenburg with around 450 employees. From the very beginning, Weber was involved in a variety of areas, starting with sports clubs and prevention projects in schools to donating the organ for the Neubrandenburg concert church. The sounds of the organ could be listened to during the celebrations, because as a special surprise the Latvian organist Iveta Apkalna, a good friend of Weber, played some pieces of music. Günther Weber is the seventh honorary citizen of the city - and after six competitive athletes the first entrepreneur to receive this honor.
