Generation change in the Handtmann company management
With Markus Handtmann and Valentin Ulrich, the fifth generation of the family will take over the management of the Handtmann group of companies with headquarters in Biberach an der Riss on April 1, 2023. The previous Managing Director of Handtmann Holding, Thomas Handtmann, will join the Advisory Board of the family company at the end of June 2023.
25 years ago, Thomas Handtmann took over the management of the family business from his father, Arthur Handtmann. During that time, sales have more than quadrupled to EUR 1,1 billion today. The number of employees also rose from around 1.600 to 4.300 people in 2022. These are spread across the six business areas of filling and portioning systems (F&P), light metal casting, system technology, plant technology, plastics technology and e-solutions. Today, in addition to its headquarters in Biberach, Handtmann is also represented at numerous production and sales locations worldwide. These include new foundries in China and Slovakia as well as new locations in Reutlingen, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands from the F&P division. “We have developed from an Upper Swabian medium-sized company into an international technology company. It is important to me personally that we have remained a family business and that we have a strong sense of belonging at Handtmann. The people make Handtmann what it is. They are the reason for our success,” explains Thomas Handtmann.
At the end of June, 70-year-old Thomas Handtmann will move to the advisory board and hand over responsibility for the group of companies to his son Markus Handtmann and his nephew Valentin Ulrich. Both have experience in mechanical engineering and management and have already held various management positions at Handtmann and other companies. Valentin Ulrich, previously CFO in the management of the F&P division, outlines the future course of the group of companies: “Topics such as internationalization, innovations, digitization and openness to new ways of working are decisive for the future of Handtmann. We will invest in these and other areas in order to create sustainable value for our customers, our employees, society and our group of companies". Harald Suchanka, CEO F&P, confirms the strategic orientation: "The Handtmann family supports the expansion course of our business area with sustainable investments in our production and sales infrastructure. I look forward to successfully continuing the company's long-term growth course together with the fifth generation of Handtmann". Markus Handtmann summarizes: “Our goal is to set Handtmann up for the future so that we can remain on the road to success in the future.
