(BLL) has a new President: The Board of Trustees unanimously elected Dr. Werner Wolf as the successor to the long-time incumbent Dr. Theo Spettmann. As a member of the Board of Trustees, Vice President and Permanent Representative, Dr. Wolf has been accompanying the work of the BLL intensively for a long time and is very familiar with its tasks. The election of the spokesman for the management of Bitburger Braugruppe GmbH thus guarantees the continuation of the successful association activities.

Dr. Wolf announced that, as the new BLL President, he would campaign for more objectivity in the public debate on food issues. He criticized the fact that the food industry is increasingly becoming the target of one-sided criticism, which sometimes culminates in the blanket accusation that it is "poisoning, lying and cheating": "The absurdity of such a claim is clear: the food industry lives from trust and consumer satisfaction. That is why consumer protection is our top priority. " As a further focus of his work as BLL President, Dr. Wolf carried out the evaluation of the Consumer Information Act (VIG) and, at European level, the Food Information Regulation. At VIG, it is important to find an appropriate balance between the interests of business and the interests of consumers. When it comes to the upcoming mandatory nutrition labeling, it is crucial that the EU Parliament follow the vote of the Environment Committee and finally resolve the misleading and unscientific traffic light.

dr Spettmann was the BLL's president for nine years. During this time, he significantly shaped the work of the association. With great success, Dr. Spettmann on the establishment and expansion of the "Nutrition and Exercise Platform". (peb), which bundles a large number of social forces that are actively committed to a balanced diet and an active lifestyle for children and young people. It was also important to him to strengthen trust in food and to secure it in the long term.

Association for Food Law and Food Science e. V. (BLL) The BLL is the leading association of the German food industry. About 500 associations and companies from the entire food chain - industry, trade, crafts, agriculture and related areas - as well as numerous individual members belong to it.
