National performance competition of the butcher youth in Ludwigshafen

Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria are the national winners in 2010

On November 15th and 16th, the national performance competition of the young butchers took place in the vocational school BBS Technik 2 in Ludwigshafen. In this competition, the best young people from the training courses for butchers and butcher shop salespeople showed all their skills in a total of 17 disciplines that are typical of their technical training.

24-year-old Melanie Reinold from Baden-Württemberg was the first national winner among the butcher shop salespeople. It comes from the parent's butcher's shop Reinold in Schwäbisch Gmünd. For the butchers, Manuel Schwarz (19) from Bavaria was the first national winner. He was trained at the Deininger butcher shop in his hometown of Markt Einemsheim.

The second national winner was the 21-year-old butcher Adrian Loose from Saxony and the specialist saleswoman Frauke Walther (23) from Hesse. Adrian Loose was trained in the Ulrich Loose butcher's shop in Dippoldiswalde, Frauke Walther in the Walther specialist butcher's shop in Florstadt. Specialist saleswoman Kerstin Höfler (20) from Bavaria and 20-year-old butcher Sascha Krampf from Lower Saxony took third place. Krampf received his training in the Mandel butcher's shop in Osnabrück, Kerstin Höfler was trained in the Würzburg Edeka Freshness Center Trabold.

All participants, especially the first, second and third place winners, were honored at the awards ceremony in Mannheim. The winner and the runner-up among the butchers will also be able to represent the next generation of German butchers in the international performance competition, which is expected to take place in June 2011 in Warwick, England. As in previous years, the national performance competition once again met with widespread media interest. Several camera teams accompanied the butchers' and saleswomen's competitions, and there were also reports on the radio and in the local press.
