High French Order of Merit for Inge Rauch

Member of the "Ordre National du Mérite Agricole"

For her decades of services to the spread of French culinary culture in Germany, Inge Rauch was awarded the Order of Merit of the French Ministry of Agriculture and raised to the rank of knight [Chevallier]. This makes the managing director of R&S Rauch GmbH one of an illustrious circle of medal bearers.

The award itself dates back to 1883, since then numerous people who have made outstanding contributions to the spread of French food culture have received this honour. Among them are not only representatives of the trade, but also numerous greats from the world of culture, such as the actress Catherine Deneuve. However, it is still a rarity for the medal associated with elevation to the rank of chevalier to be awarded to a person outside of France.

The medal, which consists of a white enamel star on a green ribbon and also bears the two red stripes of the Legion of Honour, was presented by Christian Beraud. The export manager of the Aoste company praised the services of Inge Rauch on behalf of the ministry. Together with her husband and company founder Albert Rauch, she pioneered the introduction of French meat products in Germany, he emphasized. The start of exports in the 70s was still characterized by correspondence and forms, customs formalities and currency fluctuations. The raw sausage and ham specialties started their triumphal procession in the service counters of the specialist trade.

“Inge Rauch immediately recognized the need for explanation. Thanks to her perfect language skills, she was able to develop concepts that have been updated to this day,” Christian Beraud praised.
