FEBEV: New quality charter for Belgian meat

Patrick Schiffler's new association chairman

The members of the professional association "Belgian Meat eV" (FEBEV*) have signed a new charter. Key elements of the document are food safety and animal welfare. This implies strict compliance with regulations, structural cooperation with federations and authorities as well as an action plan to improve slaughtering techniques, targeted employee training and sophisticated traceability of the animals.

"With the adoption of the quality charter, FEBEV wants to underline the commitment, the sense of responsibility and the optimistic vision of the future of the Belgian meat industry." That is the tenor of the inaugural speech by Patrick Schifflers, who has now taken over the FEBEV chairmanship from Joris Tiebout after six years.

* FEBEV is the professional association of (190) Belgian slaughterhouses and cutting plants based in Brussels.
