Klaus Marsch new general manager

Change of management at BGN

The trade association for food and hospitality (BGN) based in Mannheim has a new boss as of July 1, 2011. The 54-year-old lawyer Klaus Marsch will then take over the management of the statutory accident insurance institution, which is responsible, among other things, for the food and beverage industry, the hotel and catering trade as well as the butcher, baker and confectionery trade. In this position, he succeeds Norbert Weis, who managed the business of BGN as director for more than ten years and is now retiring.

The Ladenburg March began at BGN in 1986 and has been Norbert Weis' deputy in the BGN executive board since 2000.

Jürgen Schulin will be at his side in the management function in the future. The 45-year-old economist has been managing director of the BGN branch in Erfurt since 2001, which is responsible for insured persons and companies in the federal states of Thuringia and Saxony and parts of Saxony-Anhalt.

The change in the BGN main management comes at a time of reorganization: At the end of numerous associations in the field of statutory accident insurance in recent years, at the turn of the year 2010/11 there was also the merger of the former third-largest accident insurance institution in the commercial economy, the professional association for food and restaurants the butcher trade association to the food and hospitality trade association. Klaus Marsch now wants to "merge the qualities and experiences of both organizations into a common house".

On July 8, 2010, the new main management will report to the employer and employee representatives of the BGN self-government for the first time - within the framework of a representative meeting, the most important body of the BGN self-government.

The BGN

The trade association for food and hospitality (BGN) is the statutory accident insurance for over 3,3 million insured persons in around 326.000 companies in the food and beverage industry, the hotel and catering trade, the bakery and confectionery trade, the meat industry, the tobacco industry and showman and circuses. All employees in these companies are insured by law with BGN for accidents at work and occupational diseases.
