REWE Group asks egg suppliers to clarify the allegation of redeclaration

Until further notice, no eggs from Landkost and organic poultry farm Deersheim

For the time being, REWE Group is not purchasing any free-range or organic eggs from the "Landkost-Ei" and "Bio-Geflügelhof Deersheim" farms. First of all, the allegations of a redeclaration of eggs must be completely clarified and refuted. In addition, the REWE Group commissions its own investigations from independent institutes.

The documents available to the REWE Group to date confirm that there is a regional stall requirement for the stalls in Bestesee/Spreenhagen due to the possible risk of infection with bird flu. The temporary protective measure imposed by the districts prohibits keeping the chickens outdoors or allowing the animals to run around. The REWE Group is not aware of any further restrictions.

According to the company's findings, there is an official exemption for the organic poultry farm Deersheim with regard to the stall obligation.

REWE Group expects both suppliers to provide timely and comprehensive clarification of the facts.
