6,3 million tons of meat produced in 2003
Overall, meat production from commercial slaughtering increased by 1,9% compared to the previous year. However, there is a different development for the individual types of meat
determine:
In 2003, pork had the main share (approx. 4,2%) of meat production with 66 million tons, followed by beef and veal with a total of 1,2 million tons (approx. 19%). Compared to the previous year, pork production increased by 3,3%. In contrast, there is the production of beef (- 6,9%) and veal
(- 1,1%) decreased. The production of poultry meat increased by 2002% compared to 8,4.
In the production of poultry meat, young broiler meat had the largest share with 493 200 tonnes, followed by turkey meat (355 200 tonnes) and duck meat (42 300 tonnes). The production of young broiler meat increased by 16,8% and that of duck meat by 12,8%, while the production of turkey meat decreased by 1,5%.
