Zentralverband Naturdarm e. V. supports the award ceremony as a long-term sponsor

The carnival society 'Schlotte eV' awarded the Palatinate 'Saumagen-Orden' for the thirteenth time on February 19th. This year's award winner is the actress Marie-Luise Marjan, known among other things as "Mutter Beimer" from the television series "Lindenstrasse".

Mother Beimer with the order of the Saumagen

As the awarding body emphasizes in its justification, Marie-Luise Marjan is honored, a personality who, with her acting skills, serves the joy, entertainment and relaxation of numerous people and, as one of the most popular mother figures in Germany, gives advice and tips on coping with life. In particular, the voluntary commitment as a Unicef ambassador distinguishes Marie-Luise Marjan as a worthy bearer of the Saumagen Order.

Marie-Luise Marjan succeeds the former Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Lothar Späth, who traditionally gave the laudation for his successor. The celebratory event was - as for many years - by the Zentralverband Naturdarm e. V. (ZVN), Berlin, actively accompanies and supports as a sponsor. Previous holders of the order include prominent people from the Palatinate, such as former Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl, the Rhineland Palatinate Prime Minister Kurt Beck, his predecessor and Prime Minister of the Free State of Thuringia a. D. Bernhard Vogel, the singer Joy Flemming and the football idol Fritz Walter.

The order was awarded in the historic old town hall of Schifferstadt in front of more than 100 invited guests from politics, society and culture. Made in the form of a collar made of rose quartz with silver constrictions, with its 400 grams it is undoubtedly one of the 'heaviest medals' in Germany. In addition to him, the new medalist also received a well-filled gift basket with delicious sausage specialties 'in their natural shell', which was given by the managing director of Zentralverband Naturdarm e. V., Dr. Peter Haarbeck, was presented.

The real Saumagen, prepared exclusively in the natural pig's stomach, was also used at the award ceremony: As a traditional Palatinate delicacy, it was served to the guests together with Saumagenwein (dry Riesling).

With the Zentralverband Naturdarm e. V., the Schifferstadter Carnival Society has an important sponsor and long-term cooperation partner at its side. The association has represented the interests of the German natural casing industry since 1947, with total annual sales of around half a billion euros. The demand on the German market for high-quality sausage products in natural casings is very high: over half of all sausages consumed in Germany are enclosed in the fine casing.
