Expansion of Neptun Feinkost is funded

minister dr Backhaus handed over the approval notice to Neptun Feinkost GmbH & Co. KG in Waren - investment secures and modernizes location - reserves still in the industry-internal cooperation

When the foundation stone was laid for the necessary expansion of the production facilities at Neptun Feinkost GmbH & Co. KG almost exactly two months ago, the Minister for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Dr. Till Backhaus recognized the commitment of the new investor and traditional company from Hamburg. "This will secure the Waren site, which has been expanded in recent years with considerable financial support from the state and will employ more than 100 people in the future," he emphasized.

"Nowadays, production plants in the food industry have to meet increasingly stringent hygienic and demanding technical and technological requirements, especially with such a sensitive food as fish," said Minister Dr. Backhaus today in Waren/Müritz at the handover of the approval notification that was promised in April. It is therefore not surprising that companies willing to invest are often dependent on public sector support. Starting this year, the Gottfried Friedrichs Group will invest around EUR 3,7 million at the Waren site.

In addition to a default guarantee for the necessary investment loans, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania supports this project with grants of almost 1,3 million euros, which come from funds from the EU financial instrument for the orientation of fisheries (FIAF) and from funds from the joint task "Agricultural Structure and Coastal Protection". federal and state. The expansion and restructuring of the company in Waren should be completed by 2005.

Minister Backhaus welcomed the fact that the company is arming and realigning itself for the future, while consciously wanting to continue to be based in Germany and adhere to the proven high standard of premium quality - despite the opportunities arising from the eastward expansion of the EU and general globalization.

The Minister estimated that Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will have excellent conditions for projects in the field of fisheries and the processing and marketing of fisheries products by 2006 and hopefully beyond that as part of the funding as a target 1 area. "However, future viability is not just a financial question. I see many other reserves, for example in aquaculture and in closer cooperation between production/catching in the country and the local processing/marketing capacities."
