Rheda-Wiedenbrück, November 8, 2023 - Great joy in the Tönnies team: two young employees from the food producer from Rheda-Wiedenbrück have been recognized at a national level for their special training and study achievements. Caral Spitczok from Brisinski was pleased to receive her award in Aachen as part of the state's best honor. Moritz Zimmermann received the Günter Fries Prize.

Carla Spitczok from Brisinski completed her training as a food technology specialist at Tönnies in Rheda with a particularly outstanding performance. At the state best honor in North Rhine-Westphalia, she beamed from ear to ear thanks to her 100 percentage points in the practical exam and her also very good performance in the oral test. Because that made her the best trainee in her field in all of North Rhine-Westphalia.

“I am incredibly proud of her achievement,” emphasizes her instructor Michael Poker, who has closely accompanied Carla’s career since the beginning. Carla's professional plans actually called for something completely different: "I originally wanted to study veterinary medicine and use the training to become a food technology specialist as a springboard," says Carla Spitczok from Brisinski. However, she quickly threw this plan overboard because she was immediately impressed by the production process and the QA laboratory area.

The company also has every reason to be happy about the outstanding performance of the dual student Moritz Zimmermann. He was awarded the Günter Fries Prize. The Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences honors talented and committed young people in the food industry for above-average master's and bachelor's theses from the university's Life Science Technologies department. The 22-year-old received the award for his bachelor's thesis on further improving the already high hygiene and quality standards in the company's slaughter area. To achieve this, he introduced and implemented the vacuum-saturated-steam treatment process together with the university.

The work was part of the bachelor's degree in food technology that Moritz Zimmermann completed in the QM department of the food producer in Rheda-Wiedenbrück. “We are very pleased that Moritz has managed to implement a practical process. The reward is the award with the renowned Günter Fries,” says Michael Franz, who closely accompanied the studies and the bachelor’s thesis on the company side together with Lea Strotkötter.

The best thing: Both top talents remain loyal to the family business. Carla Spitczok from Brisinski has already started her dual studies in the field of food technology with subsequent specialization in the technology of protein-based foods. Moritz Zimmermann is now completing a trainee at the Tönnies subsidiary “Tillman's” with a focus on production and project management. Your path in Team Tönnies is far from over.
