False allegations also against Bio-Geflügelhof Deersheim GmbH

BioHenne defends itself

"As an organic company, Bio-Geflügelhof Deersheim GmbH complies with all legal requirements for the production of eggs from organic farming", says Dr. Knust, managing director of the company, adds: "Regarding the current allegations, it must be said that all animals on our Deersheim farms can go outdoors. Since spring, Deersheim has had an exemption from the housing order."

According to the EU organic regulation, the animals must have access to the outlet for at least 1/3 of their lifespan. We fully comply with these requirements. Nevertheless, animals can of course always be found indoors.

However, farms that we have leased in Brandenburg are subject to a stall order due to the risk of bird flu: To protect laying hens from epidemics such as bird flu, a general stall obligation was introduced in Germany with the avian influenza ordinance of October 18, 2007, from which the responsible districts allow exceptions. On October 20, 2008, the district of Dahme-Spreewald ordered stables to be set up in the district of Bettensee after a case of bird flu had been detected in Saxony. Since then, laying hens from our leased farms have been in the stables.

However, we are fully in line with all the necessary organic standards, including (EEC) No. 2092/91.

The accusation that we resold cage goods from the Landkost company printed with an organic stamp is unfounded and wrong.

Given the importance of the false allegations, we have asked our attorneys to take immediate legal action against the perpetrators.
