The sales check for butchers

Customer orientation is an increasingly important factor for the economic success of a butcher's shop. Unfortunately, however, the sales area in which the direct relationship with the customer is to be established and maintained is often not given the importance it deserves. The sale of high-quality products often fails because the sale is not sufficiently customer-oriented, sales and, in the worst case, customers are lost.

The German Butchers' Association therefore offers its guilds and member companies a special service with the sales check, which specifically reveals the strengths and weaknesses in the sales area. Those who take part receive important information about their strengths and weaknesses in the sales area, i.e. about direct competitive advantages and disadvantages at their locations. This information is the basis for targeted sales-promoting measures and decisions.

As part of a sales check, the following are evaluated:

  • External impression of the butcher shop
  • Appearance of the salesroom
  • Appearance of the sales staff
  • Competence and appearance of the staff in the sales pitch
  • Service orientation
  • Sales counter, breadth and depth of assortment, presentation of goods
  • Prices
  • Compliance with legal regulations such as design of price tags, notices, information on additives/allergens

Sales check for members
Equipped with a uniform shopping list, two trained employees of the DFV visit the company's sales outlets unannounced. Depending on your wishes, not only your own sales room is examined, but it is directly compared with your own branches or sales outlets of competitors.

After the test purchases, all of the purchased goods are handed over to the client. The latter then has the opportunity to judge the practicality and aesthetics of the packaging himself. All information collected is summarized in a detailed report. The evaluation of one's own salesroom is directly compared to that of the branches or those of the competition and subjected to a comparison.

Sales check as a guild event
The sales check can also be carried out as a guild campaign. Equipped with a uniform shopping list, two trained DFV employees will appear unannounced in the specialist shops as customers who are taking part in the campaign. Here, too, after the test purchases, the purchased goods are presented to the business owner so that he has the opportunity to assess the quality of the packaging. In addition, the participating company receives a detailed report with all the information collected for its company only.

After all companies that have commissioned the sales check have been visited, a guild comparison is also drawn up. This includes the evaluations of the individual categories examined, a price comparison and a quantity comparison. In the guild comparison, the results of the companies are summarized and made anonymous in such a way that conclusions about individual participants are no longer possible.
