The slaughter cattle market in June

Prices recovered

The local slaughterhouses had a significantly larger supply of young bulls in June than in the month before. Due to the demand for beef, which is usually described as subdued, the slaughterhouses tried to lower their prices. However, this only happened in isolated cases from the second half of the month. All in all, the price movements on the young bull market have remained within narrow limits in the past few weeks. Depending on the season, the supply of slaughter cows was not too plentiful. Providers were therefore able to push through price premiums in the first weeks of June, and prices only fell slightly towards the end of the month.

At the purchase level of mail-order slaughterhouses and meat products factories, the weighted federal average for young bulls in meat trading class R3 rose by five cents from May to June to EUR 2,50 per kilogram slaughter weight. The comparable figure for the previous year was thus exceeded by 15 cents. For class R3 heifers, farmers received an average of EUR 2,44 per kilogram in June, six cents more than in the previous month and twelve cents more than a year ago. The federal budget for class O3 cows increased by 13 cents to 2,05 euros per kilogram slaughter weight. It thus exceeded the previous year's level by 20 cents.

In June, mail-order slaughterhouses and meat product factories in Germany, which are obliged to report, billed around 45.700 cattle per week nationwide according to commercial classes. That was a good seven percent more than in the previous month and almost nine percent more than in June last year.
