Bargain prices for fried chicken

A large supply is sufficient for the demand

The German market is well supplied with chicken meat from domestic and foreign production. The local producers are counting on growth and have put in about ten percent more hatching eggs in the course of the year to date, while imports have increased by a similar amount. In terms of the extensive range on offer, however, demand has not increased accordingly, because business with grilled goods has so far fallen short of suppliers' expectations due to the moderate summer weather.

High jumps in chicken prices were therefore not possible, and so consumers have remained with extremely consumer-friendly shopping options. On average in June, for example, fresh roast chickens cost only EUR 3,21 per kilo in shops, which was 18 cents less than in June 2003, 41 cents less than in June 2002 and even 62 cents less than in June 2001. Similarly cheap the same applies to the prices for fresh chicken cutlets. In June 7,73, on the other hand, only EUR 2003 was required in retail, in June 7,92 it was EUR 2002 and in June 8,55 an average of EUR 2001.
