BVDF Managing Director Dr. Wiegner retired

Thomas Vogelsang will be sole managing director of the Federal Association of the German Meat Industry

dr medical vet Joachim Wiegner retired at the end of 2014. Since 2000 he has been Managing Director of the Federal Association of the German Meat Industry. V. (BVDF) in Bonn.

In addition to his professional activities, Dr. Wiegner performs a number of voluntary tasks. Among other things, he was authorized inspector for the field of self-service fresh meat at the German Agricultural Society (DLG) and chairman of the association for the promotion of meat research at the Federal Institute for Meat Research (today the Max Rubner Institute) in Kulmbach. He represented the association at the butcher trade association (FBG), today the trade association for food and hospitality (BGN), at the European association CLITRAVI and at the research group of the food industry (FEI).

On the eve of the IFFA, the leading international trade fair for the meat industry in Frankfurt am Main, the "Meat Vision Award" and the "Förderpreis der Fleischwirtschaft ".

The "Meat Vision Award 2013" goes to two companies selected by the top-class jury that stand out for their sustainable strategic and personal performance: the Dutch company Natura Foodtec BV, which developed and implemented an innovative low-pressure nitrogen process for the production of prosciutto is honored; and the cooperative meat marketer Westfleisch eG, which received the award for its long-term and consistently pursued sustainability strategy. A special prize from the jury goes to the Max Gruber butcher shop in Großweingarten.

New sales manager at GILDE foodservice GmbH

Thomas Weißinger intensifies the nationwide network for supplying customers from the GV area

Thomas Weißinger (35) has been the new sales manager at GILDE foodservice GmbH (GFS), a subsidiary of ZENTRAG, the central cooperative of the European butchers' trade, since February 1, 2013. Thomas Weißinger was previously Sales Manager South at Sander Gourmet, having previously worked as a branch manager at bofrost and as a district manager at REWE.

After training as a retail salesman with a focus on butchery at Feneberg Lebensmittel GmbH and successful years as a butchery and branch manager, Thomas Weißinger completed a degree in business administration in Mannheim. As a business economist, his main focus at GILDE foodservice, but also at ZENTRAG itself, is on expanding the customer spectrum.

Bärwalde new at Messe Frankfurt

 

Jan Bärwalde (38) has been in charge of marketing communication for the Technology & Production division at Messe Frankfurt Exhibition since the beginning of the year. He is responsible for national and international media relations and advertising for the Light+Building, ISH, IFFA, Texcare International, Texcare Forum, Texprocess and Intersec trade fairs. In his new function, Bärwalde is also responsible for the strategic communicative support of international brand management, i.e. for the foreign events of the respective world's leading trade fairs in Frankfurt am Main. He is also responsible for the conceptual and strategic communication development of the Technology division of the Messe Frankfurt group. In his new role, Bärwalde will report to Iris Jeglitza-Moshage, Member of the Management Board at Messe Frankfurt Exhibition.

DLG award for Prof. Dr. Friedrich Bauer (Vienna)

Exemplary, honorary commitment as an expert recognized

The board of directors of the DLG (German Agricultural Society) has appointed Prof. Dr. Friedrich Bauer was awarded the Max Eyth Medal in silver. DLG Vice President Prof. Dr. Achim Stiebing presented the medal and certificate at the opening ceremony of the International DLG Quality Test for Ham and Sausages in Bad Salzuflen. With this high award, the DLG recognizes Prof. Bauer's diverse, voluntary commitment to quality testing for boiled sausages and cooked piece goods. Their further development has been just as important to him for almost two decades as the DLG specialist work.
